Abstract

The concept of power in Java regarded as a gift from God. The myth that assumes that God is involved in the appointment of a ruler is a way of legitimizing the power of the king in Java.Legitimacy of power from the supernatural elements are considered higher and contain grace. So the origin of the source of power for the king of Java is not derived from the people. The purpose of this study to raise and analyze problems that occur in succession Kraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat which is considered very distinctive, because it is contrary to the customs and ordinances of the Islamic Mataram kingdom since the first was established. This research use literature study, conducted to obtain data concerning Ngayogyakarta, succession to the throne to the people. The analysis used in this research is descriptive analysis. This analysis was conducted to describe the state of the physical and visual presence of a succession crisis that occurred at the Palace Ngayojogjakarta Hadiningrat. About a succession crisis in the palace Ngayogyakarta considered there as opposed to the "paugeran" (custom Kraton). With or without the support of the Sultan's half brother and some relatives Ngayogyakarta court in the matter of appointment of the Crown Princess, Sultan has issued a word of the king is actually still succeeded in realizing his command were based on the "revelation". And "paugeran" is considered a product of human ideas are not sacred, so it can be changed and adapted to era.
