Abstract

Investment in education is an important component of economic and social development that has recently been discussed in several books. Under current conditions, increasing school enrollment rates is very important for policy makers. For this reason it is necessary to understand what factors determine one's school participation. This study attempts to identify several individual and household characteristics that influence school participation in Indonesia. This study uses data from the Indonesian National Socio-Economic Survey (SUSENAS) in 2017 with an analysis unit of the school-aged population, namely residents aged 7-18 years. This study uses several socioeconomic variables contained in the SUSENAS questionnaire, namely the education of the head of the household, welfare, work status, residence and gender. From the results of the analysis using binary logistic regression, it was found that all variables used had a significant effect on one's participation in school.
