Abstract

Mercury is one of the most important parts in any industry, especially the cosmetics industry. Many cosmetic industries use mercury as a basic ingredient in cosmetic manufacturing. The purpose of this study is to know that mercury is a heavy metal that is very dangerous for humans. The method used is literature review with analytic approach. The results showed that work-related illnesses were caused by physical factors such as mercury or toxic compounds of manganese, the cause of chemical factors due to zinc, ammonia nitroglycerin, nickel. The cosmetic industry absorbed many labor in Indonesia due to the needs of people who wanted to perform, mercury levels ranged from 50- 100πg% will show symptoms of poisoning. Health problems caused by high mercury exposure in a short time are lung damage, vomiting, increased blood pressure and heart rate.
