Abstract

Surgery is a form of medical therapy that can cause stress or anxiety due to threats to the integrity of one's body and soul. Anxiety is a natural disorder of feeling characterized by feelings of fear or anxiety that are deep and ongoing. Anxiety can occur in all patients who will undergo surgery, anxiety experienced by patients is usually associated with all kinds of foreign procedures that must be undertaken, as well as threats to life safety. The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is a relationship between knowledge and characteristics of patients with anxiety in the face of surgery. The study sample was pre-operative patients at the Jakarta UKI General Hospital with a total sample of 32 people. Research Methods using descriptive analytic methods using cross-sectional design. Data analysis using Chi Square test. The results showed that there was a relationship between patient's knowledge of anxiety in the face of surgery in the UKI Jakarta Public Hospital with a p value of 0.007 (p <0.05), there was a relationship between age and anxiety in dealing with surgery in the UKI Jakarta General Hospital with a value of p.value 0.022 (p <0.05), there is a relationship between sex with anxiety in the face of surgery in the UKI General Hospital Jakarta with a p.value of 0.035 (p <0.05), and there is a relationship between education on anxiety in the face of surgery in the UKI General Hospital Jakarta with a p value of 0.017 (p <0.05).
